#31DC2 Day 27 Gradient

Good afternoon! How has your day been? My day has been rather uneventful with only school work and coffee. I am hopefully going to meet up with my cousins at a book signing later today. But now I am excited to share a weird version of a gradient for you all.

Today I am continuing on with the 31 Day Challenge 2.0. Today is day 27 and the prompt is gradient. I decided to do something a little different with this. It is more of a rough scratchy gradient with some textured polishes. I didn’t use a makeup sponge, just a nail art brush. I laid down a base of Rimmel London Sweet Lavender. I used the following polishes for the gradient: Zoya Dhara, OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby, Nicole by OPI Hit the Lights, OPI Get Cherried Away, OPI A Grape Affair, and Nina Ultra Pro Orange Flame.

#31DC2 Day 26 Realism

Hey everyone! Today on the blog I have yet another day of the 31 Day Challenge 2.0. I've been at this challenge for months and months but I only have 5 days left! Today's prompt is realism and I automatically thought about flowers.

The base color is Revlon Bare Bones. The dots are in China Glaze Community. I used a ton of different nail polishes for the flowers. If you want to know any of them, ask in the comments! I topped it off with Essie Good to Go!

#31DC2 Day 25 Abstraction

Hi friends! I created a new tumblr for the blog today! I plan to actually post there (unlike my last tumblr). You can find the new tumblr here. You can also just click on the tumblr logo on the top left of the blog.

But today I am continuing on with the 31 Day Challenge 2.0. Today's theme is abstraction and I free handed an abstract rose with monochromatic purple polishes. I used Sally Hansen I Lilac You, Essie Play Date, NYC French White Tip, and NYC Palm on The Beach. I used NYC Matte Me Crazy for a matte finish.

March Nail Polish Haul + Swatches

Hello everyone! Today I finally have a nail polish haul for you all. I feel like I haven't done a haul in a really long time. But today I have 9 nail polishes to show you!

China Glaze Out Like A Light
A dark bluish grey creme. For some reason this cool reminds me of thunderstorms. This is so nice and unique! Shown is two coats without top coat.

China Glaze Dancing and Prancing
Dancing and Prancing is a glitter topper with glitter of all different colors and sizes. Even though I don't like this one very much, the formula was really good. Shown is two coats over Out Like a Light.

 Sally Hansen Mad Women
Mad Women is a purple gel with dark pink shimmer. This is actually the first gel polish that I have gotten and I was really impressed. Shown is two coats without top coat.

Sally Girl ?
So I don't know the name of this polish and it is destroying me! If you know, let me know in the comments. But this is a cute maroon polish with brown and yellow shimmers. It reminds me a lot of fire. Shown is three coats without top coat.

Sally Girl Crazy
Crazy is a orange neon creme. This polish isn't very unique but I love my orange neon polishes. This formula was on the sheer side but it was buildable. Shown is three coats without top coat.

Rimmel London Mind The Gap, Victoria
Mind The Gap, Victoria is a bright periwinkle creme. I love this one! It is so unique and pretty. It is perfect for spring. Shown is two coats without top coat.

Rimmel London Sweet Lavender
Sweet Lavender is a light purple creme with a pink tint. The formula was really good. Shown is two coats without top coat.

NYC Fashion Safari
Fashion Safari is a tan creme with a tint of orange. If a tan could be unique, this one would be. I can't wait to use it for a base for some nail art! Shown is three coats without top coat.

NYC Park Ave
Park Ave is a dark brown creme. I don't really have much to say, because its, well brown. But the formula was good, as usual for NYC. Shown is two coats without top coat.

My Fandoms Nail Art Wheel

Hey everyone! I'm sorry I haven't been around much, I've been pretty busy with PSEO/early college stuff. But most of the registering and such is now behind me, so I'm ready to jump back into blogging! Today I have a new nail art wheel for you all! As you know, I love me some books and TV. Yes, they are probably destroying my social life, but I can't really bring myself to care.

So I painted a nail wheel for some of my TV and book obsessions. Most of these are book fandoms, but I have 3 or 4 TV fandoms in there. So I am missing plenty of TV shows like Supernatural, Breaking Bad, etc. All of these are free hand painted with nail polish. I'm not going to list most of the nail polishes but if you have any questions, feel free to ask me in the comments.

1. Pretty Little Liars -A: I love the TV show and I'm currently reading book #2!
2. American Horror Story: I've watched seasons 1-3 plus like half of season 4. I'm currently rewatching season 2 (which is probably my favorite season).
3. The Vampire Diaries: I've read all the books and seen every episode! This is probably my second favorite TV show behind Supernatural.
4: Beautiful Creatures: I've read all the books and seen the movie. The nail art is supposed to show the fight between the light and the dark, and a moon.

5. Heroes of Olympus: This book series by Rick Riordan is one of my favorites! It's a middle grade series where the main characters are demigods (half greek god/half human) and they are trying to save the world.
6. If I Stay: I am so sorry for this sad excuse for a cello. It doesn't even look anything like a cello. But I have read If I Stay and the sequel Where She Went. I've also seen the movie!
7. Shatter Me: This nail art is based of the Shatter Me trilogy by Tahereh Mafi. I have read the first two books.
8. The Infernal Devices: The spin off series of the Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. This series is probably my 3rd favorite series of all time. On the nail is the rune for parabatai.

9. The Percy Jackson Series: Another amazing middle grade series by Rick Riordan. I've watched both of the movies as well, but only liked the first one. Don't even talk to me about the second.
10. The Fault In Our Stars: Tears. Crying. Sorrow. I've had my heart broken by the book and the movie.
11. Vampire Academy: My second favorite book series by Richelle Mead. I have read the whole series and watched the movie.
12. The Mara Dyer Trilogy: This is based of the Mara Dyer trilogy by Michelle Hodkin. I am in love with this trilogy and it is one of my most recent favorites.

13. Harry Potter: I don't know if I am even allowed to say that I am in the HP fandom because I have only read one book. I have seen some of the movies. But I absolutely adored the first book and can't wait to read the second.
14. The Mortal Instruments: This is beautiful 6 book series by Cassandra Clare. Shown is the rune for angelic power.
15. Divergent: I have read all of the books (including the companion Four) and seen the first movie. I hope to see the second movie asap! This is supposed to be the dauntless symbol but I kind of failed.
16. Bloodlines Series: Say hello to my favorite series of all time! The Bloodlines series is by Richelle Mead and is a spin off series of the Vampire Academy Series. Shown is a golden lily.
17. It's Kind Of A Funny Story: I have the book and seen the movie. They were both so beautiful.
18. Hunger Games: I guess I only got half of the symbol in this picture. If you want to see it in its full beauty, look at first picture. I have read all of the books and seen all of the movies and adored them.

#31DC2 Day 24 Half Moon

Hey guys! I hope you are all having a good week! Today I am continuing on with the 31 Day Challenge 2.0. Day 24's prompt is half moon or ruffian. I chose to do a half moon with roses.

I painted this with some stickers for the half moon, and the roses are free hand. The color on the half moon is China Glaze Mingle With Kringle. The roses are painted with Sinful Colors Easy Going, NYC Fuchsia Shock Creme, and Palm on the Beach.

Impulse Book Review

Title: Impulse
Author: Ellen Hopkins
Series: Impulse #1
Rating: 4/5 Stars
Trigger Warning: cutting, depression, and suicide
Bookshelves on Goodreads: 2014-reads, books-i-own, damaged-guys, ending-destroyed-me, mental-illness, my-emotions-i-cannot, poetry, read, romance

“Forever has no meaning when you're living in the moment.”

Before I say anything else, I want to say that this book needs a serious trigger warning for depression/cutting/suicide. So if you are affected by that, I would think before reading this. This book is really dark and depressing, yet hopeful. I like it a lot but it was a little too depressing for me and I ended up really sad after this book.

Impulse is about three teens who have all tried to commit suicide, and failed. They end up in a psychiatric hospital called Aspen Springs. They each have different stories and different reasons for wanting to be dead. Together they help each other and fight that nagging feeling that says they aren't good enough.

One thing I looked so completely about Impulse is Ellen Hopkin's writing style. It is so beautiful. I loved how the whole book was written in prose. I think it added a lot of emotions to the book, that we might not have gotten without it. I also loved all the characters. I felt like I really understood them, and connected with them in some ways.

The only reason I gave this 4 stars, instead of 5, is because is it very sad. It was one of those books that just left my heart torn. But overall I really loved Impulse and can't wait to read more of Ellen Hopkin's books!

St. Patrick's Day Nail Art

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Are you guys doing anything fun? I'm not, just binge reading The Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas (SO GOOD!). I wanted to make sure that I got at least one design out for St. Patrick's Day. I am happy with this nail art, kind of, but the clovers are kind of meh looking. But I do really love my ring finger! I got the detailing idea from this video from Piggie Luv!

My base for this design is Revlon Bare Bones. The clover is in NYC Palm on The Beach. The pot is NYC Black Velvet (detailing work in Revlon Bare Bones) with the beautiful Zoya Bar! The rainbow is with a variety of different polishes. I topped it off with Essie Good to Go.

Have a great day everyone!

The Selection Book Review

 Title: The Selection
Author: Kiera Cass
Series: The Selection #1
Rating: 3/5 Stars
Bookshelves on Goodreads: 2014-reads, books-i-own, dystopia, have-high-hopes-for, meh, read, romance, so-incredibly-cheesy, ugly-covers

“I hope you find someone you can't live without. I really do. And I hope you never have to know what it's like to have to try and live without them.”

My relationship with this book is neutral. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. I guess I just plainly liked it. I had my issues with it, starting with that ugly cover. I don't understand how everyone loves this cover, I just don't understand. Who in there right mind would wear a blue dress made of ruffles? No thanks.

Anyway, this book is about America Singer's journey in the selection. The selection is a contest of 35 women, trying to win Prince Maxon's heart. America is in love with someone at home, Aspen, and she doesn't want to go into the selection, but her mother forces her.

So I found that the character's were either a hit or a miss for me. I didn't like Aspen at all. Just meh, no. I adored Prince Maxon. I kind of liked America most of the time, but thought that she did really stupid things. She was also kind of whinny and selfish. She was one of those perfect characters, that make me mad. Like she was supposedly amazing, beautiful, and talented, and she knew it. Also, what is wrong with these names. America? Maxon? Aspen? WHY?

This book was really captivating and an easy read. I really liked some things, and really didn't like others. So I went with a neutral 3 stars. Overall it was okay. I will probably continue on with this series at some point.
