Nailing The Book: A Court of Thorns and Roses Nail Art

Hey guys! How are you all doing? I'm doing really well because my cousin is staying with me for a few weeks. She is like my best friend and we are having a lot of fun.

Today I'm doing another addition to the nailing the book series. Today's addition is inspired by A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. She is the author of the Throne of Glass series and her new series called A Court of Thorns and Roses. She is personally one of my favorite authors! You can find the Goodreads page for A Court of Thorns and Roses here.

My base for this nail art was Rimmel London Red, Steady, Go. I drew all of it free handed with a nail art brush. The silver is O.P.I. Push and Shove. The black is NYC Black Lace Cream. I finished it off with Nicole by O.P.I. Fast Drying Drops.

Nailing The Book: The Mara Dyer Series Nail Art

Hey there! I hope you are all having a great week. I'm starting a new semester and I've been doing plently of nail art. Speaking of nail art, I have some for you today! These designs are based on the Mara Dyer Series by Michelle Hodkin. This trilogy is one of my favorites. Its just so mysterious and mind blowing. It is one of those books that has you really thinking and second guessing yourself. Here are goodreads links for the three books, if you want to check them out: The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, The Evolution of Mara Dyer, and The Retribution of Mara Dyer. (How beautiful are those covers!)

For this nail art I used a lot of nail polishes and I am not going to name all of them. But one of the main polishes is China Glaze Out Like A Light, a new favorite of mine. I used a nail art detailer brush for the titles. I topped it all off with Nicole by OPI Fast Drying Drops.

Nailing The Book: Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children Nail Art

Hey guys! I live in Minnesota and it has been snowing since last night. Ahhh the horror. It's kind of ironic, because even though I live in Minnesota, I hate snow with a passion. So I haven't left the house today and I'm probably not going to until Spring. (I wish) The only things lighting up my mood are coffee, my late night date with The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey, and the fact that the Voice is on in 15 minutes.

Today I have some nail art inspired by Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs for you. I finished this book yesterday and fell in love. It was so beautifully written and the pictures added another layer of perfection to this mystery adventure. You can check it out on Goodreads here!
This nail art is based on the dark design of the book. (soooo beautiful!)

I only used two polishes for this design: NYC  Black Velvet & French White Tip. I mixed the too for the grey. I drew this design free hand with my small nail art brush. I topped it off with Essie Good to Go!

John Green's Books Inspired Nail Art

I was ready to post another book review today but I looked back and realized that I had 3 or 4 in a row. So I figure that it's time for some nail art! It still kind of has to do with books, but that is kind of the thing about this blog. But if you really know me, you know that I love John Green as a person and a writer. I first read The Fault In Our Stars and my obsession started. He is such a genius and great writer and funny person, it just makes me wonder how one person can be so great.

So I have to say that I'm not extremely happy about these. I mean there aren't bad enough to go into my trash bin, I did decide to blog them, but there are a lot of things that I don't like about them. Espically the Will Grayson nail because I didn't clean it very well, so please ignore that. ;)

So each of my nails is based off one of his books. My thumb is based off of Looking for Alaska, my pointer from Will Grayson, Will Grayson, my middle finger from The Fault In Our Stars, my ring finger from An Abundance of Katherines, and my pinkie is from Paper Towns. My favorite is probably my thumb. I'm not going to list all of the polishes here because there is just too many. I used a nail art brush and a dotter tool. I topped them off with Essie Good to Go.

Nailing The Book: Silver Shadows Nail Art

Hey guys! I am super excited for today's post. The Bloodlines series is a spinoff series by Richelle Mead. It is also my favorite series ever. So I was super thrilled when the latest book (Silver Shadows) came out about a month ago. And god, I was not disappointed. The book was my favorite of the whole series and probably just my favorite book in general. So of course, I had too do some nail art!

Silver Shadows (Bloodlines, #5)

Also, look at that cover! Its so perfect, except for that one piece of hair in Sydney's forehead at the top. I don't know, maybe its just me. Anyways, my nail art is based on the flowers/vines/swirly things on the cover and I have a slight gradient in the back ground. I used NYC Sidewalkers, NYC Black Velvet, and Rimmel London White Hot Love for this design. I free handed it with a nail art brush. Also to add effect the gradient is matte but I did the rest of the design in normal shine. For the matte I used NYC Matte Me Crazy.

Nailing The Book: Vampire Academy Nail Art

Hey guys! Today I have some Vampire Academy nail art for you! I'm actually really surprised that I haven't done any before, because come on its like my favorite series ever. If you want to learn more about Vampire Academy click here. They also just made a great movie for Vampire Academy, so check that out as well.

So you have to know a little bit about the VA world to understand this nail art. Its about vampires in high school (if you haven't guessed), but its not the normal cheesy vampire border school romance novel, I promise. So there are three times of vampires. The dhampirs are half vampire, half human and they protect the moroi, the full vampires, from the strigoi, the evil vampires. So the dhampirs got special tattoos to show how many kills they have, etc.. I have some of those tattoos on my nail art.

For this nail art I used a free hand brush, top coat, base coat, acetone, and a clean up brush. The polishes I used are Revlon Diva and NYC Black Velvet. I topped it off with Essie Good to Go.

Nailing The Book: If I Stay Nail Art

So I now have a job! I am working as a dishwasher at a camp. It's not very glamorous but it's my first job so I'm happy just to have to a job. I start I. Tuesday! I still have to find out if I can wear nail polish on the job. Haha, it's sad that, that is my main concern!

So today I have nail art based on If I Stay by Gayle Forman. I haven't reviewed it yet but it took my breath away. It was beautiful and tragic and I highly recommend that you read it if you haven't. It's about a fatal car crash and the second I opened the book I saw this.

I was automatically like, NAIL ART. I didn't turn out exactly how I wanted it to, but I still really love this design.

I used Revlon Midnight, Sally Hansen Blue Me Away, and NYC Skyline Blue for the background. Then I painted the cracks with NYC Black Lace Cream. Then I painted If I Stay with NYC French White Tip. I finished with Essie Good to Go.

Nailing The Book: Delirium Nail Art

Hey guys! We are under a tornado watch right now, but it looks perfectly fine outside. It was thunder storming earlier though, so I'm getting some blogging down before it starts up again!

I read Delirium close to a month ago and was blown away by Lauren Oliver's ability to tell such a beautiful story. You can find my raving review here. So I was also blown away by the cover, both front in back. I mean look at it!

I got my idea for the nail art from the back writing. You can't really see it in this picture, but I will have a close up later. The whole idea of the book is the main character, Lena, getting "infected" with love. So I thought this nail art was very spot on!

For this design I used The New Black polish as my base for all of my nails. Then I free handed the "infected" with Wet n Wild I Need A Refreshment. Then I drew the disease symbol in NYC Black Lace Creme. Then I finished with Sally Girl Butta on my thumb (Which I actually changed after these pictures).
