My Top Ten Polishes of 2013

Happy new year! Well almost. My parents are out while me and my brother are... home. We are going to eat cheesecake and have a Walking Dead marathon. It honestly sounds pretty good to me.

As you probably have seen, I changed a lot about the blog. The name, the url, a lot of the social media sites, and I added a "my book reviews" and "makeup". Why you may say? Well books are my second love. I was thinking about making a book blog on top of this one, but then I figured I would just have one blog for both. So not much will change besides I will review a palette or two from time to time and I will have book reviews. If your not a book lover or not a polish lover, that is perfectly fine. Just skip the posts you don't interest you!

To ring in 2013, I have my top 10 polishes of 2013. I honestly thought that 2013 was a GREAT year for nail polish! Lets hope that 2014 is even better! Here are my 10 favorites polishes of 2013 (that I own). There is no order.

Nailing The Book: Unseen (Vampire Diaries 11) by L.J. Smith

Hey! I'm finally back! The holiday season has messed up my blogging so much. I have been swatching my new polishes but I haven't gotten around to blogging yet. What did you guys get for christmas? I mostly got nail polish and books (Which I am totally fine with). I will have a post on my holiday haul later this week!

Today I am bringing back another post for the series "Nailing The Book". I actually read this book like a month ago but never got around to posting about it! This is one of my favorite series of all time. The show "The Vampire Diaries" actually got me hooked on these books! Basically its about a love triange between two brothers and a girl. The two brothers happen to be vampires and later in the series you will learn that the girl is a guardian. So basically she kills bad supernatural creatures. Yes, its really really cheesy, but I normally fall for that kind of thing. On my nails, I have symbols for all of the different supernatural creatures in this series!

I used OPI Nail Envy as a base coat with Elf Desert Haze on top!
My thumb is supposed to be for the guardians. I used Sally Hansen Sun Kissed on top of Elf Dessert Haze.
My pointer finger is for vampires (of course). I used Revlon Diva over Elf Dessert Haze.
My middle finger is for witches. I used Sally Hansen Posh Plum over Elf Desert Haze.
My ring finger is for vampires made from science. I used Essie Butler Please over Elf Desert Haze.
My pinky is for werewolves. I used Sinful Colors Nirvana over Elf Desert Haze.
All of these designs were drawn on freehand with a nail art brush or a dotting tool.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

12 Days of Christmas Tutorials: Day 12 Present

Hey! I got to open one present today. It was a nail 7 step buffer (yay!), some nail polish remover, and two Sally Hansen polishes that I already have. So I'm probably going to go return them after Christmas!

For this design you will need:

-base and top coat
-nail brushes
-clean up materials
-dotting tools (optional)
-green, red, white, and black polish

Step one: Use base coat and paint your nails white or a light color

Step two: Paint about half of your nail red, from middle to your tip.

Step three: Use your green for a design on the red, I just did dots, but you can do whatever you want.

Step four: Paint a black loop on the top of the present for a bow.

Step five: Draw another loop touching the other. Clean up and use top coat!

Thanks for reading and I hope you had a great Christmas Eve!

12 Days of Christmas Tutorials: Day 11 Christmas Lights

Hey there! Today has been a busy day full of running around town and buying gifts! The stores were so busy, it was insane. I must have walked into someone at least twice. But now I got all my presents done and wrapped except one, go me!

For this design you will need:

-base and top coat
-nail art brush
-dotting tool
-white and black polish
- your choice of 2-6 polishes

Step one: use base coat and paint your nails white or a light color

Step two: paint a black curvy line going from left to right, all the way across your nail

Step three: take a small dotting tool and make a dot touching the black line, then another one touching that dot. It should look like a bulb, you may have to touch it up a little. Keep going with all of your colors. Then clean up and apply top coat!

12 Days of Christmas Tutorials: Day 10 Christmas Stripes

Hey, I'm back! I just got done with a book called City of Bones by Cassandra. I will have nail art up for it sooner or later. It was probably one of the only relaxing things that I have done this week. But then I remembered that I needed to do another post today, so here I am!

For this design you will need:
  • Base and top coat
  • Striping tape
  • Scissors
  • Red and Green polish

Step one: Paint your nails red

Step two: Set out your striping tape in this design. Try to make them not straight lines up and down, but more curved like I did.

Step three: Make sure they are all secure then paint green.

Step four: While the polish is still wet, take of the striping tape. Then finish with clean up and top coat!

(Essie A Cut Above is so sparkly! You can actually see the light in the photo!)

12 Days of Christmas Tutorails: Day 9 Snowman

Hey! It has been Crazy with a capital C! Christmas time always brings this nonsense but it has been worse this year. I decided to paint some pictures for my parents and those are done but I still have my aunt to paint for. I haven't even started and Christmas is on Wednesday!! Plus I have been running over to her house to set up her tree and clean all day. Not to mention wrapping my own presents. Gahh!

To get away from all the madness I have been catching up on my blogging! I will have two tutorials... again... today. I swear, I'm sorry. I'm so bad! But here is a tutorials for free handing snowman.

For this design you will need:
  • Dotting tools
  • Base and top coat
  • Light blue polish
  • Black polish
  • White polish
  • Orange polish

Step one: Paint your nails a sky blue

Step two: Use a large dotting tool to make a half circle at the bottom of your nail.

Step three: Use the same dotting tool to make a circle on top of the half circle.

Step four: Make two or three dots going up the body of the snowman for buttons.

Step five: Make two black eyes!

Step six: Make lots of small black dots for the mouth, don't do yours like mine. They need to be smaller.

12 Days of Christmas Tutorails: Day 7 Christmas Berries

Hey! I'm behind again... go me. But I'll get both posts up today! I have been busy because my mom has been sick and I was helping her and such! But she is getting better now. So are Christmas berries called holly berries or not? I'm not sure so I'm just calling them Christmas berries and here is a tutorial!

For this design you will need:
  • Base and top coat
  • Nail brush
  • Dotting tools
  • Nude or white, red, and green polish!

Step one: Paint your nails a nude or white color

Step two: Make the outline of a leaf on your nail. I basically just did two curved zig zag lines and connected them!

Step three: Draw another outline close, but not touching the other outline.

 Step four: Fill them in!

Step five: Take a medium sized dotting tool and make 3 connecting dots in the middle of the two leaves. Then clean up and put on top coat!
