The Raven Boys Book Review

The Raven Boys is super fantastic and unique. I liked Stiefvater's Shiver series but The Raven Boys was better. I seriously loved the whole setting and atmosphere of it. Its southern without the annoying accent writing and has a boarding school without bad school drama. Gansey & his friends live in an abadoned building and has book stacked up high, it sounds like heaven. The whole book is mysterious and perfect.

The Raven Boys is about Blue Sargent, her mom is a physic and she lives with her physic family. Blue herself has the weird ability to lend energy to others, making things stronger and clearer. She goes to the church, like she does every year, and watches the dead pass. She isn't supposed to see them because she isn't physic, but she sees Gansey. She could see him either because she is either his true love or she will kill him. Blue gets dragged into the exciting world of the raven boys.

The raven boys is a nickname that is given to students of an all boys boarding school. We get to met four: Gansey, Adam, Noah, and Ronan. Gansey is a boy with everything, on a quest for a mythical man on the lay lines. Adam has trouble at home with his dad, and often escapes to help Gansey with his quest. Noah is a quiet boy with a weird and dark past. Ronan watched his father his father die and is paying the price with anger and depression.

I loved all of the characters in this book. Blue was really independent and selfless. Out of all of the raven boys I liked Gansey best with Ronan being a close second. I also really liked Blue's mom, she was a bad ass.

Overall this was a great story. I'm happy with how it ended and also happy that I started it so late, so I don't have to wait for The Dream Theives. Doesn't title just sound awesome?! *running to the bookstore to buy the next book*

Succubus Blues Book Review

Richelle Mead probably my favorite author of all time. First I read her Vampire Academy series and truly fell in love. Then I read the Bloodlines series and it redefined what I thought love was. So I was super super super hyped about finally getting to read this. I was a little weary because its an adult book and very umm.. adult? I mean the cover screams sex. Some authors really overdue it with that, and forget about a plot, but Mead didn't.

So I didn't love it as much for Vampire Academy or Bloodlines for sure, but Succubus Blues was pretty great. It took me a bit to actually get into it, then I couldn't stop reading. Georgina was just as much as a badass as Rose & Sydney. The men in this are adorable. There is Seth & Roman. Roman was typical- good looking, charming, confident. Seth was all of those things except for confident, and he is a writer. So I liked Seth more, not gonna lie.

Succubus Blues is about a succubus named Georgina Kincaid. Her life force comes from sexual acts. She doesn't really like what she is, but lives a more simple life. She works at a bookstore and loves to read and drink coffee. Her favorite author, Seth, moves to town and works at her book store. They develop a relationship but Georgina can't have physical contact with him, in fear that she will drain his life force. Kind weird, I know. Then murders of other supernaturals start to happen all around town and Georgina finds herself right in the middle of it.

I liked Georgina as a character but wasn't blown away or anything. The one character I really really loved was Seth. There again goes Mead's amazing talent at writing up the sexiest boys in the fictional world.

This was Mead's debut book and it shows that even from the beginning, she has a beautiful ability to write perfect books. I can't wait to go read the sequel!

Silver Shadows (Bloodlines # 5) Book Review

Holy. Crap. I read this in early August but thinking about it/ writing this review makes me want to cry with tears of joy. This is my favorite book ever, no exceptions. In my opinion, it was also the best of the series. It was intense, heart breaking, and stunning beautiful and perfect. Like really after I read this, I couldn't do anything properly. PS. As always there will be spoilers now for the rest of the series. 

After the crushing thing that was the ending of The Fiery Heart, Sydney is in re-education and Adrian is destroyed. He looks for her through dreams every night and day, when he is sober anyways. Everybody is looking for Sydney but she is no where to be found. Adrian basically falls apart: he barely passes his classes at art school, he drinks all the time, and is spirit is driving his crazy. And god, I felt for him. Really, I mean it was so emotionally awful to read about him like that. 

 Sydney is in re-education and it is just as awful as thought it would be. They keep her in a pitch black room for almost 3 months before she earns the right to be around people, people who have done wrong by the alchemists like her. She meets friends and tries to find any way to get out of there. While I didn't feel for Sydney as much as Adrian, I was more just angry at the alchemists. And her dad and sister, gahh. 

 So overall I have no clue what to say about this book because it was just so perfect in every way. The ending was shocking and perfect and unbelievable. People who read the book probably know what I'm talking about. But anyways, there was a bad cliffhanger as always. Classic bloodlines. But even without the cliffhanger I absoluetly can't wait until February 10th. Its just too far away.

Vampire Diaries Unmasked Book Review

Unmasked is so conflicting for me. I feel like I naturally need to give 5 stars to anything Vampire Diaries related, and I do. I do feel like this one deserved it, maybe unlike the other two written by the ghost writer. But I'm so happy that I read this one because it broke my heart then put it back together again. I was satisfied with how it ended. 

Unmasked picked up basically a week or so after Unseen. Spoiler time if you haven't read the rest of the series. Elena is dying and Damon is feeling at fault. He killed Stefan's killer and he thought it wouldn't apply to the deal that Elena and Damon made, but it did. But before Elena dies, a guardian offers her a chance. She goes back to the beginning to make Damon good. But doing it means she can't love Stefan.

But I loved every page. I feel bitter sweet that the series has ended (maybe? *smshhh*). But I still have the TV show to fix my TVD love.

Supernatural (The TV Show) Inspired Nail Art

Supernatural is the main reason that I haven't been blogging as much as usual. I feel in love with that show and have been watching it all the time. Like really, its a problem, I don't do anything else. So I thought I would show you guys some love for Supernatural with nail art! But first here is a summary:

Supernatural is about two brothers, Dean and Sam Winchester. Their mother died when they were young and a demon killed her. Their dad, John, became obsessed with hunting monsters like demons, vampires, werewolves, and all sorts of killers. Then it became a family tradition and the brothers start hunting as well. There is also romantic/lusty relationships, physic powers, other hunters, and Bobby. 



I used OPI You're So Vain-illa for my base. My thumb is inspired by a Angel Banishing Symbol and I used NYC Black Velvet and China Glaze So Blue Without You. My pointer is inspired by Dean's car and they are his license plate numbers, I used NYC Black Velvet. For my middle finger I did a galaxy with way to many polishes to name. For my ring finger I drew a pentagram with NYC Black Velvet and outlined it with Sinful Colors San Fransisco. My pinkie finger is a gun drawn with NYC Black Velvet. I topped it all of with Essie Good to Go.

Dangerous Creatures Book Review

Dangerous Creatures is the start of a spin off series of Beautiful Creatures. I loved Beautiful Creatures and gave every book 5/5 stars. I even like the crappy movie that every one hates. So you can see that I really wanted to like Dangerous Creatures and I tried, I really did. I'm not saying that it was horrible because it wasn't, it was just so boring. It did finally start to pick up about 3/4 of the way through. I would have given the book a 2/5 if it wasn't for the decent ending. But Dangerous Creatures just left me wanting more.

Dangerous Creatures is about Ridley Duchannes (a dark siren caster that is always up to no good) and Wesley Lincoln (Link) (a hybrid incubus who plays music, even if he sucks at it). To fully understand this book, I think you would have to read the Beautiful Creatures series first, which gives you a run down on casters and such. But you can read this without spoiling too much of the Beautiful Creatures series. So Ridley and Link graduate and go to New York. They both have their own reasons, Link wants to get into the music business and Ridley has a debt to pay. So they end up dorming with a caster band and getting themselves into trouble.

My main problem with this book was that it just didn't keep my interest until the end. It moved at a slow pace and had little to no action till the end. It also pissed me off because Ridley treats Link like crap for most of the book. I like them as a couple but really? She has an awesome sweet guy, and she lies to him and pushes him around. It also made me mad because no one like even gave Ridley a chance to be good. Its a sterotype, that all Sirens are bad, so everyone in the band is mean to her. No wonder why she doesn't like them.

If you read the Beautiful Creatures series and are wondering if you should bother to read this, you should. I feel like my mildly negative review might just be my opinion.

City of Heavenly Fire Book Review

There is no amount of words that can sum up my feels right now. It's so bitter sweet because I LOVED this but the SERIES IS OVER! The Mortal Instruments is so far my third favorite series of all time behind VA and Bloodlines. Saying this, COHF was also my favorite book of the series. It had so much action, romance, funny moments, drama, and tears. It took me two weeks to read, just because it was so overwhelming to read.

COHF starts right after COLS ends. Sebastian stars to turn more shadow hunters into dark shadow hunters, in his persuit to rule the world. And the Clave isn't doing shit about it. Jace gets it.

"The Clave has a collective intelligence of a pineapple."

So shadow hunters are made to come to Alicante to prepare for war. When a great betrayal takes place against the Clave, Clary and her friends take it into their hands to stop the destruction of the world.

Can we just take about how far Clary has come? She has always been a brave character but in COHF she showed a huge amount of strength. She was taking the shots and even got her own sword. May I just say that she was BA.


“There are a hundred trillion cells in the human body, and every single one of the cells of my body loves you. We shed cells, and grow new ones, and my new cells love you more than the old ones, which is why I love you more every day than I did the day before. It’s science. And when I die and they burn my body and I become ashes that mix with the air, and part of the ground and the trees and the stars, everyone who breathes that air or sees the flowers that grow out of the ground or looks up at the stars will remember you and love you, because I love you that much.”

Clary and Jace's relationship got deeper and deeper. They are just so damn cute together. (Even though Jace is MINE, back off Clary)The rest of the relationships were adorable as well (Simon & Isabelle and Magnus & Alec)

I think that the best part of this book was that it was so fucking funny. Proof:

“I did not make a pie,” Alec repeated, gesturing expressively with one hand, “for three reasons. One, because I do not have any pie ingredients. Two, because I don’t actually
know how to make a pie.”
He paused, clearly waiting.
Removing his sword and leaning it against the cave wall, Jace said warily, “And three?”
“Because I am not your bitch,” Alec said, clearly pleased with himself.”

oh and..

“I think they’ll probably put that on my gravestone. ‘He Was Heterosexual and Had Low Expectations." Jace said.

And we can't forget this..

“You're pining," said Jace.
Alec shrugged. "Look who's talking. 'oh I love her. Oh, she's my sister. Oh why, why, why—”

This was the perfect end to a brilliant series. I am sad to see the end of it, but look forward to more of Cassandra Clare's books.

Clockwork Angel Book Review


"If no one in the entire world cared about you, did you really exist at all?"

This is for sure a contender for my favorite series ever. When I read the summary of this book on Goodreads, I thought it was going to be a lose for me. I mean I'm not much of a victorian era type of person. Also, a love triangle? You need some serious talent to pull them off. But I have no clue how I ever doubted Cassandra Clare. She is for sure one of my favorite authors, right behind Richelle Mead.

This book was so beautiful. The writing was beautiful. The story was beautiful. The characters were beautiful. Everything was just so damn beautiful. I mean honestly, I might put this series in front of The Mortal Instruments. I was laughing and crying (literally) and swooning and laughing again and sighing in bliss.

Clockwork Angel is about Tessa Gray. Her brother moves from New York to London and she is soon to follow him, after her aunt dies. There warlocks called the dark sisters capture her and tell her that she has the power to shape shift into anybody. They also tell her that they have her brother and if she doesn't do what they say, he will be dead. So Tessa "changes" over and over for the sisters until a shadow hunter (demon hunter) named Will Herondale rescues her and that is where the book really begins.

Tessa is brought to the Instutite (where the shadow hunters live) and the shadow hunters help her find her brother. But while there she falls for two best friends, Will and Jem. She changes and discovers a lot about herself and her past. But most importantly, what she is.

For me, to make a book great, I need a relatable main character (or just a nice one) and a hot guy in the mix. Lucky me, I get both here. Tessa is a book lover. Need proof?

“One must always be careful of books," said Tessa, "and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.” 

oh and this one.

“Only the very weak-minded refuse to be influenced by literature and poetry.” 

Need I say anything else? I think not. And Will is your typical troubled broken funny hot guy. Well maybe I shouldn't say typical because that can imply bad things. But I promise you think there is nothing bad about Will. He just has that broken sexy thing about him. And he loves books. HE LOVES BOOKS.

“Sometimes, when I have to do something I don't want to do, I pretend I'm a character from a book. It's easier to know what they would do.” 

Jem is awesome too. He isn't Will but he is cool. He seems more of the friendly type, rather boyfriend material. He has some sickness, but I can't tell you because you know spoilers. But here is some proof of his awesomeness.

“Whatever you are physically...male or female, strong or weak, ill or healthy--all those things matter less than what your heart contains. If you have the soul of a warrior, you are a warrior. All those other things, they are the glass that contains the lamp, but you are the light inside.” 

I'm not really sure how I could possibly express how much I love this book. Cassandra Clare has created this beautiful world that I just want to bury myself into. On to Clockwork Prince!

City of Lost Souls (Mortal Instruments # 5) Review


(Spoilers on all of the books in the series, but this one. Not crazy spoilers but still. I feel like I should warn you.)

I finished City of Lost Souls last night, but I have just kind of been sitting around because I have no clue how to write this review. It seems like my thoughts just don't want to go on the paper. I loved this book, I really did. It wasn't much a surprise either, because Cassandra Clare's books are always sooo good.

I stayed up until 2 am, on a school night reading this. I had like 200 pages left, but I just kind of flew threw the ending. Like the rest of Clare's books, CoLS was full of suspense, romance, action, and humor. Some parts of the books just came out and completely shocked me. For you guys who haven't read any one of the other books in the series, most of the main characters are shadow hunters. Shadow hunters are half angel- half human and they fight demons. Clary, Jace, Isabelle and Alec are like the main shadow hunters in the series. Then there is Magnus, and he is a warlock. Then Simon is a vampire, and some of the other characters are werewolves. So this book has a major supernatural theme in it, but its not cheesy (Twilight, Vampire Diaries, etc...).

The main relationships are Clary and Jace, Isabelle and Simon (Kind of?), and Alec and Magnus. I love Clary and Jace. They have great chemistry and are just a great pair. Isabelle and Simon are kind of on and off, but I like their relationship as well. Magnus and Alec, are of course gay, there relationship is probably the best of the three. Magnus is freaking hilarious. I find myself laughing at his lines all the time. (For those who read this book, page 511 ISN'T REAL. IT CAN'T BE.) So yes, this book had plenty of romance, but no insta love or anything like that.

I really don't know what to say. I think I have probably said it all in my other reviews of the Mortal Instrument series, which you can find here and here and here and here. I really can't praise this series enough. Those who haven't read it, need to! *me sounding like a cheesy car saleswoman* You won't regret it!

City of Glass (Mortal Instruments 3) by Cassandra Clare Review

I CAN NOT. GUYS. OH MY FEELS. I hate writing reviews for my favorite books, because I have no clue how to. Like how can I possibly give this book enough praise? I can't. But I can try.

Me: How in the actual hell. OH MY GOD. I DON'T CARE IF I HAVE THE NEXT BOOK I AM STILL GOING TO CRY MY LITTLE HEART OUT.

Me: *Bangs head on the desk* IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL

Me: WHY CAN'T THERE *Sniffle, tear* BE MORE GUYS LIKE JACE. ITS NOT FAR TO THE HUMAN RACE.

Me: My heart won't stopping racing. If I didn't know better, I would think that I was having a heart attack. 

Me: Wait. I have to write a review on this? Fuck this. How can I possibly put Clare's utterly beautiful words and make a review out of them? I can't do this.

Me: Yes you can! You are smart, go get that review.

Me: But...

Me: But nothing. Go write the damn review.
 
So here I am. It's 1:30 am and I have school tomorrow.  I promised my mom that I would go to bed at 11. Well..... techinally I was in bed.. just not sleeping. I promised myself that I would finish this book today. I only had like 200 pages left! Well guys I have an important lesson for you: Reading is superior to sleep any day.

In City of Glass, Clary and the gang are in Idris (Like the main shadow hunter city) finding a cure for Clary's mother. There are a lot of moments were I was really pissed at Jace in this one. He was acting like an ass for show. How surprising. Not. But I swear that Jace is probably my favorite fictional (or real) male in the world. He is just so caring and bad ass.

Clary really stepped up her a-game in this book. She goes with her impulses and stands up for herself. I really like her character. I actually liked Simon in this book too. In the past Mortal Instruments books, I really didn't enjoy Simon's character. But in City of Glass, he was selfless and really a cool guy.

Unlike the first two books in the series, I literally prodicted the whole ending. Not even slightly joking. I can't tell you guys about the ending, I refuse, but I knew like the whole thing, and I couldn't be happier. It was kind of a shock since City of Bones and City of Ashes were such shockers for me. But I couldn't have asked for a different ending.

If I didn't know that Clare was going to this trilogy (series), I have no clue what I would do. Probably pout and complain for a few days, without leaving me room. But I do have the next book! And I intend to read it after Beautiful Redemption (Caster Chronicles 4), since Beautiful Redemption is a library book and all. But guys, go do yourself a favor and read The Mortal Instruments! You'll be happy you did!

Beautiful Chaos (Caster Chronicles 3) by Kami Garcia Review






“When I first met you, that's what I remember. I looked up at the sky and thought, I'm going to love this person because even the sky looks different.”

Oh. My. God. My heart. I think I lost it. I keep thinking that maybe, just maybe, I could give one of the Caster Chronicle books a 4 star, but no. Garcia has a way of pulling so many different unique things together beautifully. I would have laughed if someone had told me that you could fight supernatural beings, southern accents, a small town, and a great romance into one book. They just don't seem to fight. Fitting together casters (or witches) with an obsession with the words light and dark and southern church goes? Oh yes, it works very well.

I like the plot, the setting, the romance, the characters, well damn, I like everything about this series. The plot is exciting and the setting makes it all its own. The romance between Lena and Ethan is completely believable. Its really beautiful actually. The characters are hilarious and spot on brilliant.

I like how Garcia actually made it so that I don't hate any characters in this book. For some reason, it always seems like I hate at least one character in every book. With the Percy Jackson series, it was Annabeth. With The Vampire Diaries it was Bonnie. With the Twilight series.... wait. I hated everybody but Alice and Jacob in those damn novels. I could go on and on. But really? With this book I was trying to find someone to hate but I just couldn't.

I have to talk about Ethan (The main character and hottie). Sorry, I might start to ramble. He seems like the only non-badass hero that I actually swoon over. Ethan is a smart, romantic guy that you just want to cuddle with. But he is really selfless too, in a "I need to protect everyone I love kind of way". He is just... awesome.

Oh and did I mention that I went to the ER tonight? I hit my head really hard and have a concussion. But I still finished this book and am writing a review at 2 am. That is how good this book is. Do yourself a favor and go and read this beautiful piece of literature.
